A Masque for the Multiverse

A Masque for the Multiverse

30 years of laborgras – a milestone that we would like to celebrate with joy and gratitude.
The starting point for this is the premiere of our new production A Masque for the Multiverse, which we are presenting together with the Ensemble CONTINUUM at the Radialsystem at the end of the year. With A Masque for the Multiverse, laborgras and Ensemble CONTINUUM not only commemorate 30 years of laborgras but also explore an extraordinary encounter between the Baroque and the present.

The performance stands for the power of encounters, the importance of cultural diversity and the courage to rethink traditions. Together with eight musicians, three singers, and four performers, we create a lively reinterpretation of the historical masque tradition. Baroque music by William Lawes – composed for the court of Charles I – meets contemporary works by Shara Nova, whose compositions build bridges between pop culture and baroque sounds.
