in the land of small details

in the land of small details

In the solo performance in the land of small details, the protagonist Renate Graziadei ventures into a space where the natural laws seem to be defied. Together with the audience, she steps beyond the familiar—both physically and intellectually—to confront the extreme. How does our perception shift when we break away from conventions? What new tensions, beauties, and curiosities emerge? In this experimental space of time, perception, and transformation, constant shifts in rules give rise to striking new realities and emotions that transcend everyday experiences.

Stage design, costumes, and music are key elements in in the land of small details. The stage, enhanced by video projections from Frieder Weiss, transports the performer into ever-changing environments. Daniele Drobny’s costumes challenge her to continually reorganize herself and her body—sometimes rendering each movement fragile, and at other times, causing her suddenly oversized body to obstruct what would be considered “normal” movement. The live music, performed by Kai von Glasow, acts as both a companion and an antagonist, a catalyst, and at times, even the protagonist itself.
